Thank you to everyone who played in the Amrik Kalsi Memorial Golf Day on Monday, May 6th 2024. Your donations and entry fees enabled us to raise £600 for Charity.
The money will go to The Mata Nanki Foundation. The charity provides affordable and free medical care to those who cannot afford to pay. The charity also helps people who can’t afford to get married and gives them certain items.
The Competition
The competition was an individual stableford (100% index), with the men playing off the yellow tees and the ladies off the red tees. It was a beautiful day, and the scoring was generally very good, with the top 3 scores being;
45 points – Haris Kular (Back nine 25 points)
45 points – Sukh Rayatt (Back nine 22 points)
44 points – Jack Jukes
This was like a tour event. Haris birdied the last three holes for the win. I think his handicap may be coming down!
You can collect prize money from the Pro Shop. We will present Haris with the Trophy at the B team dinner on Thursday, October 24th. Please remember that the scores on How-Did-I-Do are for a 95% handicap. This is a failing of the England Golf Union System, which does not allow for 100%.
Amrik’s Family donated a bottle of whiskey for the best guest score. Again, it was close, with Shahid Arain scoring 38 points, pipping Dave Quiney on a back-nine count back to the spoils.
In addition to the individual competition, the members and guests had a team competition, with two scores out of four to count on all holes and three to count on the 18th. An Amrik Kalsi bonus point was also available if the team scored six or more points on a hole.
This competition proved extremely close, with the winners getting 98 points and three teams tied for second with 97. The final results were;
1st Jake Patel, Jack Jukes, Mujibur Rahman, Satpal Singh 98 points
2nd Steve Maclean, Mark Topham, Simeon Doolan, Shahid Arain 97 points
Thanks go to Lee and Claire for their efforts in setting up the competition and their help on the day. We also want to thank Mel and Savanah for keeping us well-watered! The course was also in such excellent condition for this time of year.
Next year’s Memorial Golf Day will be held again on the May Bank holiday, which is Monday 5thMay. Please put the date in your diary.
