CHARLES HESPIN CUP

Wednesday, September 4th, saw the third annual playing of the Charles Hespin Cup. We had terrific support for our Seniors President, with a turnout of 30 golfers and the same number for the splendid two-course meal cooked by Andy and served by Kirsty and Jody.
Judging from the photos, everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly both on the course – which was in excellent condition following the recent maintenance week – and in the club house. It was one of those days where everyone who played was a winner, but special prizes went to the following players:
Best Front 9 – Steve Johnson 20 points
Best Back 9 – Paul Davies 18 points
Nearest the pin (6th) – Les Hall
Nearest the pin (13th) – John Charlton
The overall competition for the Charles Hespin Cup probably produced the closest finish ever in HGC Seniors competitions, with four players achieving 36 points.
Once separated, the results were as follows:
Winner – John Morris  36 points BB9
2nd – John Nicholls 36 points BB6
3rd – Tony Davies  36 points BB6
4th – Les Hall 36 points

A very popular winner. Well done John, yet again proving age is no barrier to achievement.
Charles Hespin
The man himself - Charles looking very sprightly.
