Seniors Brecon Cup

As the last of this season’s club competitions approached their end, we held the Brecon Cup last week.
Once again, the Seniors Section members showed great support for the Brecon Cup and played in good weather on our beautiful golf course on Monday, September 16th. The course was in fabulous condition, and the greens were back to their best after the course maintenance, which only took place only four weeks ago.
Twenty-six played, and twenty-five were able to stay for the lunch of roast beef and all the trimmings provided by Andy and his team.
As usual, there were plenty of good scores – helped no doubt by the excellent greens – but in the end, Les Hall, playing in the penultimate group, was a clear winner with 38 points.
After lunch, he was the proud recipient of this impressive trophy, presented by last year’s winner. Paul Davies.

Bernie Egan was in second place with 36 points – good to see him back among the prizes.
Second place
Andy Tomlinson once again made a good showing and secured 3rd place with 34 points by virtue of BB9 over the recent Charles Hespin Cup winner, John Morris.
Third place
Earlier in the day, Andy looked very keen to get underway with his playing partners Paul Davies and Gerry Stewart.

Cecil Richards, Howard Shinebaum, and Bernie Egan appear somewhat unsure about which direction to take at the first tee.

Finally, I would like to extend special thanks to Paul from the pro shop, Dave Woodward for his excellent MC duties, and John Charlton for creating the menus.
The next competition, which is the final one of this season, is the Brian Keyte Trophy, to be played on Wednesday, October 16th.
More information and the entry sheet will be available soon.
