On Saturday, 20th April, we held only our second open of the year – the Spring Pairs Open.
Despite the persistent rain that challenged us throughout April, our course stood strong, maintaining its excellent condition and producing some impressive scores.
It was great to see entrants from up and down the country, with visiting pairings taking four of the first six places. We extend our thanks to everyone who participated – the results were as follows:

On this occasion, the winners who out-muscled everyone
were Ben Green and Leon McClean, both from Handsworth Golf Club, who scored 46 points.

In second place were George Oliver and Vassel Brown, both from Handsworth Golf Club, who scored 45 points.
In third place were Paul Griffiths and Satish Ramakrishna from South Staffs. They scored 44 points, beating off four other pairings who also scored 44 points, with a back-9 of 24 points.
4th place – Russell Rice and Martin Moore – 44 points (back-nine 23 points).
5th Place – Nic Pomeroy and Ian Brotherston – 44 points (back-nine 23 points).
6th Place – John Tunstall and Dave Taylor – 44 points (back-nine 22 points).
7th Place – Lewis Wagstaff and Josh Budz – 44 points (back-nine 20 points).
Best back-9 prize (not in top seven prizes) – Dean Bedford and Colin Smith – 23 points.
