On Sunday, 14th January, we enjoyed a mainly dry day for our Winter Stableford event – Pairs Betterball. The event was a four-tee start, and we saw forty-four pairs participate.
When the first groups teed off at 830am, temperatures were around three degrees, and it didn’t get much warmer. However, given the time of year, the course was in excellent condition again, with just two temporary greens.
Playing conditions were good, and thirteen players managed to reduce Bash’s stock of balls by getting a two on one of the par threes.
Competition Result
The competition was a close-fought affair, with one point separating the first seven places.
With 44 points, the winners were Dan O’Brien and Steve Hughes, just shading it with a back six of 15 points.
Colin Davies and Che Jones finished in second place with 44 points and a back six of 14 points.
Lee Finch and Stuart Murdock finished third with 44 points and a back nine of 21 points.
Simon Elwell and Andrew Evans finished fourth, with 44 points and a back nine of 20 points.
Mick Jones and Mark Quigley finished fifth with 43 points.
Mark Dickinson and Mark Fletcher finished sixth with 43 points.
Kebbie Uppal and Emma Gibbins finished seventh with 43 points.
It was great to see so many players remaining in the clubhouse for the presentation, and perhaps the biggest cheer was for Adam Comley and Steve Cherry (pictured below), who brought up the rear with 31 points. Steve appears slightly more proud than Adam to be collecting the ‘booby prize’.
Thank you to everyone who took part, and this is a reminder that we are holding the Jeff Burn Children’s Charity Individual Stableford next week on 20th January.
